Story
Today, Fan’s scissors move with confidence as she works behind a salon chair. But just a few years ago, she sat in a brothel on “Justice Street,” silently wishing time would pass more quickly.
Forced to drop out of school and with no job prospects, Fan followed a boyfriend who promised her love and a better life—only to be manipulated into prostitution. When our partner center’s outreach first met her, they offered a simple Christmas gift and a phone number. Soon after, she called, inspired by the chance to make jewelry.
At our partner center, Fan received therapy, learned to craft jewelry like this piece, and later trained as a hairstylist. Though the wheels of justice turn slowly, each life transformed is a step toward change. Fan’s journey reminds us that when one survivor begins anew, hope grows and the clock moves closer to the day when justice will prevail.
